Stewards needed for Eastbourne Carnival!  Saturday 2nd June
Local MP Stephen Lloyd has initiated the revival of Eastbourne Carnival. He has approached the Christian Community to supply volunteer stewards for the event.  Stewards need to be available on the day potentially from 4 pm to 9.30 pm.  Duties might involve traffic management, vehicle stewarding or bucket holding to collect funds. Any marshalls doing traffic management etc will receive training in advance of the carnival so they would need to make themselves available once or twice before June the 2nd.

Ask Eastbourne
Hundreds of people turned out for three evenings in March at the Winter Garden to hear articulate answers to many of the hard questions people want to ask God. Download some of the talks here.

Fegans is coming to Eastbourne

Fegans is a children’s Christian charity offering Christian Child & Family Care services and they are coming to Eastbourne full time. Their work includes individual counselling to children and parents, parenting courses, family support, schools work etc. They especially ask for prayer for suitable (and affordable) accommodation in the Devonshire ward area of the town. Other prayer needs are:
  • to expand the volunteer base. Opportunities include reception/welcoming, crèche workers, co-workers on parenting courses, family support/outreach workers etc.
  • for opportunities for partnering with statutory and voluntary organisations.

British Sign Language
Someone recently asked me if I knew of anyone who could help a hearing impaired visitor with BSL translation. I'm afraid I did not know of anyone. It occurs to me that there must be some qualified Christian folk out there in the town. If that is you, or you know of someone, how about getting together with others to see if you could provide a professional level, charity based service? Or maybe at least a directory of people willing and able to help others with translation?  Contact me if you're interersted and if there is more than one of you I'll put you in contact with each other!

Elected Sussex Police Commisioner
On 15th November every Sussex voter will be asked to vote for a Police Commissioner. This is a totally new post. If you are concerned about the prospect of policing becoming a party political affair then you might consider supporting an independent candidate, Ian Chisnall. He is currently the Mission and Unity Co-ordinator of Churches Together in Sussex.  This eNews wishes to remain strictly a-party political but thought you might be interested in Ian's candidacy. Click here to find his website.
